HEI Summer School Week 2

The second week of Summer School ran July 27th ~ 31st☀

Our activities continued to follow the theme "Nature". The children used newspaper to play games and put on a fashion show, tried their hand at dyeing fabric with natural ingredients, and made their own cola!

DAY 1: Newspaper Kingdom
The children played games (including fishing, target shooting, and ring toss) which were al made out of newspaper and other recyclable materials. They worked together in teams and solo to get as many points as possible. In the afternoon, the children used newspaper and other craft materials to make their own costumes! We loved to see the children show their creative side and stay hyper focused on their creations. The children put on a fashion show for their parents to close the day.

DAY 2: HEI Designers
Our artists used strawberries and blueberries to dye their own handkerchiefs♪ The children had a chance to explore and observe their materials using all of their senses and created a masterpiece of their original design.

DAY 3: Colaaaaa!!?

HEI Schools turned into a soda factory on our last day, and our children worked together to make their own batch of craft cola. They took turns feeling the spices with their hands, grinding them up, and exploring the ingredients through smell and taste! And what is a cola themed day without a few mentos? We tried the cola geyser experiment in our classroom with some store bought cola and our own batch. The children spent a fun, refreshing day filled with lots of learning and discoveries.
