Learning Through Play

— A place to imagine, explore, and discover oneself —

Children learn most deeply through play.
It is in these moments that their curiosity is fulfilled, their imagination expands,
and their sense of self begins to grow.

At HEI Schools Nagoya Sakae, every space is carefully designed to support children as they interact naturally, explore freely, and rest in comfort and safety.

Within every small detail lies the joy of learning,
and in every step, a seed of growth is waiting to be discovered.

Small Class Sizes Tailored to Each Age and Developmental Stage

At HEI Schools Nagoya Sakae, class placement is designed to respect both the developmental stage and individuality of each child.
We offer classes for children aged 2 to 5 years, with small group sizes to ensure personal attention and a safe, supportive environment.
We comply with the standards set for licensed childcare facilities, and our team—consisting of a principal, a Finnish teacher, Japanese childcare professionals, and assistants—supports each child’s growth with safety and well-being as our top priority.

Exploring and Connecting with the World Around Us

— Curiosity and wonder as the starting point of learning —

At HEI Schools, we value each child’s natural desire to know and try.
Through everyday play and daily experiences, children observe, think, and build their understanding of the world.

  • Language and numeracy skills are developed naturally through enjoyable activities such as reading stories, pretend shopping, and rhythm play.
  • Through science and environmental education, children strengthen their connection with nature and nurture their questions of “Why?” and “How?”.
  • Learning at HEI extends beyond the classroom into a journey of exploration.
With their senses and hearts open, children encounter and engage with the world around them.

Fostering an Understanding of Society and the World

— Nurturing respect for diversity and a sense of ethics —

At HEI Schools, we emphasize helping children understand and embrace the diversity of the society and world around them.

  • They learn that people come from different cultures and backgrounds, and they develop an attitude of mutual respect.
  • Through connections with the local community, and by experiencing cooperation, rules, and manners, children begin to understand what it means to live as a member of society.
  • By building on these experiences, children grow into individuals who value their own thoughts while showing empathy and kindness toward others.

Nurturing the Power of Expression

— Freeing the heart through art, music, and movement —

At HEI Schools, we value each child’s ability to express their thoughts and feelings in many different ways.

  • Through music, visual arts, crafts, dance, language, and other creative activities, children develop both their creativity and their sense of self-confidence.
  • We also provide opportunities for children to experience diverse cultures and artistic traditions, fostering not only artistic skills but also cultural understanding and sensitivity.
  • By expressing what they feel and think through colors, sounds, and movement, children come to realize the joy of self-expression.

Nurturing a Healthy Mind and Body

— Everyday life as a stage for learning —

At HEI Schools, we emphasize helping children develop the ability to take care of their own bodies and minds.
This foundation supports a healthy lifestyle that will last well into the future.

  • Through daily routines, children naturally learn about exercise, nutrition, rest, self-care, and caring for others.
  • Basic life skills—such as washing hands, changing clothes, and tidying up—are supported with care, allowing children to master them at their own pace.
  • Through physical play, yoga, and outdoor activities, children experience the joy of movement and the balance of body and mind.
  • This “learning through daily life” forms the foundation for all other areas of learning, leading to the development of essential skills such as self-management, independence, and cooperation.
